Document Sharing – Google Drive

Google Drive provides instant access to pdfs as well as word processing, spreadsheets and other tools much like Microsoft Office. It’s a good collaboration tool because it allows for instant team editing of documents as well as being free.

The downside to Google Drive is that it’s not as built up or robust as Microsoft Office.

Version Control – GitHub

GitHub is a free version control collaboration tool that works on both the Mac and PC. It’s easy to work with and allows for multiple versions of software to be placed onto their system.

The limitation to GitHub is the limited storage space that is given.

Prototyping – Invision

I really wanted to put Sketch here, but it’s only available for Mac. Invision is like Sketch in the way it is run, it allows for boards to be created for sharing prototypes and designs, as well as its own limited vector tool software.

Time Tracking – Harvest

Harvest is a great time tracking tool that helps track time and allows for money management. It works on both Macs and PCs and works offline as well as online. 

The drawback to using Harvest is that it costs $12 per person, which could drive our costs of the project up.

Project Management – Liquidplanner

LiquidPlanner is a cloud based project management tool that has an open API for developers to create their own integrations. It also has built in integration with Google Docs and DropBox making it easy for us to transfer our work from Google Docs as well as.

Code Testing – Applause

Applause provides expert code testers to do real world testing for our code on mobile devices and computers. It has integration with GitHub which allows us to control our versions and fix the issues that come up. It has digital reports and analytics allowing us to see how our code is performing and allowing us to make fixes as well.

Digital Marketing Analytics and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – Sprout Social

Sprout Social allows us to control our social media marketing and SEO. There are built in schedulers to automatically schedule and create content for our social media pages with full integration of all popular social media platforms. It also includes performance reports and post level reporting to see how our reach and advertising campaigns are going.

Page Speed Testing – Google Analytics

Google Analytics gives us a detailed breakdown of all our page stats, the stay times for each visitor and where they live in the work as well as back ups our SEO awareness. The best part about this software is that it’s free.
